TIME FOR #NOMAKEUP SELFIES - NIMUE 12 WEEK CHALLENGE

Nimue’s challenge and promise is simple. Take up the 12 Week Challenge and if you can’t ditch your foundation in week 13, we will give you your money back.

Did you know the #nomakeup hashtag on instagram has 18.2 million posts? Well now you know and don't get me wrong it's a whole trend. (Although most of the #nomakeup pictures are really just a version of "no makeup" makeup, if you get what I am - and that's okay too, you do you boo!)

People are slowly beginning to realise that there's no excuse for bad skin. Make-up is meant to enhance your natural beauty so the more beautiful your natural canvas, the more beautiful your end product will turn out.

What is the 12 week challenge?

That's where skincare brand, Nimue Skin Technology has stepped up to the plate. They created the 12 week challenge - using a 12 week kit tailored to your skin classification and 4 professional treatments with your skin therapist, the 12 week challenge is supposed to completely transform your skin and leave you confident enough to go foundation-free by week 13.

You start with a skin analysis at a participating salon and following your skin classification get a tailored homecare kit as well as 4 professional treatments at the salon.

My 12 Week Challenge Journey (So Far)

I started the challenge with my first professional treatment on 14 September and started using my homecare kit on 21 September. So if I consider 14 September week 1, the first week in December would be my week 12. I do my treatments at Perfect 10 Pavilion in Durban (#SquadGoals) with my therapist, Andile (A whole queen right there!).

My Skin Classification: Environmentally Damaged

"Premature ageing or photo ageing resulting from a history of cumulative exposure to environmental factors"

My 12 Week Challenge Kit

Cleansing Gel

"A soap-free, 2-in-1, gel cleanser that gently removes eye and face make-up and impurities and provides light exfoliation."

This cleanser is such a winner for me. I'm so lazy when it comes to using a makeup remover as well as cleanser, so luckily with this I have both in one. This cleanser does an amazing job of removing makeup as well as cleansing the skin in general. It's also good for the fact that I have dry skin and it doesn't dry my skin out at all. Yay!

Exfoliating Enzyme

"An enzymatic exfoliator that gently removes dead skin cells and promotes cell renewal."

I don't often use an exfoliator because of my dry and sensitive skin but luckily this is gentle enough to be comfortable on my skin. I just realised I haven't been using it completely right - you're supposed to apply to clean, dry skin and leave on for 2 minutes, afterwards massaging the product with your fingertips for 3-5 minutes and leaving it on your skin for an additional 2 minutes. Well, now I know!

Conditioner

"A specially formulated skin treatment that stimulates exfoliation, refreshes and clarifies without leaving the skin dry."

I've always been that person too lazy to use toner. I'm sure you're also used to your toners as a liquid needing to be applied with a cotton pad? NAH FAM, THIS IS A GAME CHANGER. The Skin Conditioner is a SPRAY. You're supposed to spritz it onto a gauze and wipe over face and neck. Personally sometimes I just spray it after cleansing directly on my face, do other things while it dries and then carry on with my moisturiser. BONUS: I also use it as a setting spray (Lazy girl #winning at life!)

Day Cream

"A multi-functional, light-textured Day moisturiser that assists to restore and rejuvenate the skin, resulting in improved hydration and smoother skin texture."

A light day cream that's gentle enough for my sensitive skin while also being just hydrating enough but also not at all oily.

Night Cream

"A multi-functional night moisturiser that hydrates, assists to improve elasticity and soften fine lines and wrinkles, leaving skin smooth, supple and rejuvenated."

Also a gentle night cream, that's very hydrating and soothing on the skin. I use it every night before bed.

SPF40 Sunscreen

"A lightweight, moisturising sunscreen that provides high broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and assists to reduce and prevent visible signs of photo ageing."

A WHOLE FAVOURITE. It's no surprise that this sunscreen was a winner in the WOMAN&HOME beauty awards 2019. It's hands down the best face sunscreen I've ever used. EVER. It's so lightweight and non-greasy that you can apply your makeup completely effortlessly. It also doesn't leave any sort of white residual at all. It basically feels like nothing at all - yet its got you covered girl!

Pre & Post Serum

"A dual action serum that creates an immediate, intelligent layer on the surface of the skin to protect and repair the skin barrier. Skin is left feeling hydrated with continued improvement in skin barrier health."

This I've only had to add to my routine in the past week. It falls in between my skin conditioner and moisturiser and is another targeted product to work on my environmentally damaged skin.

There you have it, the 12 week challenge breakdown as well as my home care kit. Follow my 12 week challenge posts on instagram (@lifebyashasingh) and after I do all 4 insalon treatments I'll write another post on them.

Let me know if you have any questions or what you'd like to see more about the challenge. The only question I have for you is - when are you taking on the challenge? ;)
