Luckily right before lockdown, Nimue sent me their new Smart Rehydration range, which admittedly at the time I didn't really think I needed because my skin felt pretty hydrated. Fast forward 3 months, it's become such a staple. Even more so now that I know how absolutely essential hyaluronic acid is - think of it as collagen's first cousin (And with the attention collagen has been getting lately, it's crazy that hyaluronic acid hasn't been getting much attention at all)
N.B (Because I get asked about it a lot) Nimue products are only available at specific salons. You can use the salon locator on their website. However, with lockdown and salons not being permitted to open, many of them allow you to purchase their products online and have it delivered to you. I would suggest you contact your closest Nimue stockist and ask them whether they deliver.
WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID AND WHY DO YOU NEED IT?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is found naturally in our skin and holds water, keeping our skin hydrated and plump. It holds and retains all the moisture in our skin and joints. As we get older the hyaluronic acid found naturally in our skin decreases which contributes to ageing.
The major benefit in using products that contain hyaluronic acid is that it draws moisture to the surface of the skin, improving skin elasticity and making your skin appear more dewy and moisturised.
Being in my early to mid twenties, products that are more moisturising are becoming more appealing to me because I know with dryer skin comes ageing and ain't nobody got time for that.
Fun fact: While doing my research on it, I also discovered that hyaluronic acid is a HUMECTANT (A substance used to reduce the loss of moisture)
NIMUE HYALURONIC ULTRA FILLER
A powerful, lightweight serum for dehydrated skin with a triple action approach, providing intense hydration in all the layers of the skin. This unique serum offers anti-ageing, anti-pollution and anti-oxidant benefits in addition to hydration. Suitable for all skin classifications and ideal for use during seasonal changes.
I use the Ultra Filler directly after toning with the Nimue Conditioner tonic. It's super lightweight which I didn't expect from something that so hydrating but I love that it is. This allows it to absorb really easily into my skin while also not feeling too heavy (Especially since I still have a few steps left after using it in my skincare routine).
NIMUE HYALURONIC OIL
A new generation, and first to market, oil soluble Hyaluronic Acid, infused in a blend of oils for both intense hydration and moisture. This dual offering provides water and oil replacement in the skin simultaneously for softer, smoother and more elastic skin, resulting in ultimate skin comfort. Ideal for dry and cold climates.
I use this as the second last step in my routine (The last step being sunscreen). As the name suggests it's an oil and I personally prefer to incorporate oils in my night time routine so that it doesn't interfere with my makeup. For the most part I mostly use it at night but now with colder and dryer weather, I also use it during the day sometimes. It absorbs really well, however it does leave a bit of oil on the surface of your skin which is something to consider if you have oily skin that tends to look greasy.
N.B Make SURE to use sunscreen during the day when using products with hyaluronic acid.
