This a special one since I stayed at this hotel this New Years Eve as well as 3 times before and it's definitely one of my go to hotels in Umhlanga. Located at Gateway Theatre of Shopping, the biggest mall in Durban, aha Gateway Hotel is the ultimate choice for shopaholics that want convenience at a modern hotel.
FYI this is more of a quick mini review since I just had an overnight stay but will hopefully do another one after a longer stay :)
MY VERDICT: MODERN, CONVENIENT AND A HOME AWAY FROM HOME IN UMHLANGA

Conveniently attached to The Gateway Theatre of Shopping, this premier three-star hotel in Umhlanga provides the ultimate accommodation choice for both business and leisure travellers.
I booked the Superior Room for 1 night on New Years Eve. It's a large 40m2 room with an extra-large bed and balcony. It has a gorgeous bathroom with a massive freestanding bath tub in the centre of the room. I'm obsessed with the modern style of decor and overall the style of the room really is very contemporary and everything looks new and clean.
A few of the other features of the room include: a flat screen tv on the most gorgeous wall mounted white tv unit, tea/coffee maker, fridge, hairdryer, zircon, safe and a desk.
It's perfect for a week long stay, and definitely recommend booking more than 1 night because it goes by way too quickly!
Work From Home and business travellers - The venue is also perfect for a business traveller and has conference and meeting facilities as well as high speed wifi for those of us working from home.
The Fig Tree Cafe - The Gig Tree Cafe is Gateway Hotels onsite restaurant and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Rooftop pool - I absolutely love the stunning rooftop pool and popped into their NYE rooftop event.
Overall, I had a fantastic stay at aha Gateway Hotel and would definitely recommend it for your Durban visit!
