Foodies, get ready to mark your calendars because South Africa’s biggest culinary event is coming to town! The Mzansi Food & Drink Show is set to take place at the Kyalami Convention Centre from June 15 to 17, 2024, and promises to be an extravaganza of all things food and drink.
The event was launched in Johannesburg by RX Africa, the company behind some of the country’s most popular events, including Decorex JHB, Comic Con Africa, Africa Travel Week and FAME Week Africa. The Mzansi Food & Drink Show will combine previous events, including the Coffee & Chocolate Expo and Fire & Feast, with new additions like Fine Food & Wine, Bar & Good Spirits and the Mzansi Food Market.
According to Hanli Goncalves, Portfolio Director of the Mzansi Food & Drink Show, “South Africans are ready for a food show of this stature and we are determined to make it the biggest and the best culinary show on the African continent. It will be the stage on which local culinary personalities will strut their stuff and all the latest foods and trends are on offer, with something for the whole family and for all tastes.”
The event promises to be a fun-filled weekend, catering to the whole family, with food and drink tastings, cooking demos, masterclasses, special offers, and a marketplace filled with gastronomic delights. The event will take place over a long weekend, which includes Youth Day and Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16. So, what better way to celebrate Father’s Day than with the Fire & Feast Festival, which will entertain dads and lads with all things outdoor, meat and braai?
Chef Mokgadi Itsweng, author of the best-selling cookbook Veggielicious, was the master of ceremonies at the launch event, which was held at the magnificent Buitengeluk Broadacres Gardens in Sandton. Chef Mokgadi Itsweng said, “We are so ready for a food and drinks event of this calibre. South Africans are well known for their love of all things food-and-drinks related. We all enjoy sharing eating and drinking experiences with friends and family, and our cuisine reflects the diverse range of culinary traditions embodied by the various communities that inhabit our country.”
