LIFT has shown its support for South Africa’s local theatre and talent, this time for the hit musical, MAMMA MIA!
MAMMA MIA! leading ladies; Gina Shmukler (Donna - mother-of-the-bride), Kate Normington (Tanya), and Ilse Klink (Rosie ) boarded a LIFT flight where they performed ‘Dancing Queen’ for a show promo video.
“We’re proud to have such talent in our country and are always happy to support and upLIFT our artists in any way that we can. MAMMA MIA! has recently opened in Cape Town and we are excited to be able to bring further awareness to the show - this is definitely one South Africans don’t want to miss!” says LIFT CEO, Jonathan Ayache.
MAMMA MIA! is a guaranteed feel-good experience that celebrates the magic of ABBA’s music and the beauty of human connections. With its heartwarming storytelling, unforgettable tunes and endearing characters, it invites audiences to laugh, dance and share in the journey of love.
In true South African style the musical features a full South African cast, crew and band. Produced by leading SA promoter Showtime Management, this major international “guaranteed feel-good musical” features the timeless ABBA songs composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, including ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’; ‘Dancing Queen’; ‘I Have a Dream’ and many others.
“Showtime Management is proud to be associated with our show travel partner, LIFT. LIFT’s passion for the arts and their approach to creating incredible experiences is intertwined with Showtime’s values and core to our belief that entertainment and laughter is the hope tonic we all need. Our MAMMA MIA! cast and crew love being flown around the country on LIFT!!!” Tony Feldman, Director, Showtime Management.
LIFT continues to shine a light on South Africa’s talent with inflight performances and where possible, by supporting artists with their travel needs by taking the hassle out of travel logistics with a dedicated team working on their bookings. Just this year, LIFT surprised travellers with a spontaneous book launch when author Jo Watson launched her new book, Love at First Flight, onboard a LIFT flight. Following this, was the Fashion show in The Sky with Proudly South African, showcasing local designers.
The new look production of MAMMA MIA! now on at Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre Centre until Sunday, 07 April 2024, recently opened to rave reviews and standing ovations at every performance. The show moves to Montecasino’s Teatro, Johannesburg opening on Friday, 12 April and running until end May 2024.
